BUILDING FACADE, LOBBY AND HALLS
This notable midtown building dating from the 1930's was in dire need of an overhaul. The marble façade was cracked and stained, the lobby had been chopped up and poorly maintained, and the hallways were in disrepair. The original luster of the building was restored by installing a new black granite façade, reconfiguring the lobby with a new granite mosaic floor at the upper landing, and providing granite stairs which span the width of the space. A new bronze handicap lift was custom-fabricated, and new bronze handrails were designed to harmonize with the original detailing.
