For this new weekend house on a small lake in southwestern Michigan, DFA combined the features of a mid-century glass house with the function and warmth of a weekend cabin. The open living and dining room space has two facades of glass, one facing into the pines and one out to the lake. Ecological (green) and reclaimed materials and systems have been incorporated throughout, and the house features passive solar and geothermal heating and cooling. The house is at once both deceptively simple and sophisticated.
